Container Eating Plan on a Budget

Portion controlled containers are all the rage right now in healthy eating.

Container Eating on a Budget

And you know what?

There’s a reason everyone is going crazy over those little colored containers.

I am so excited to share this post with you guys. After tons of research and trial & error figuring out what works best for my body. I found it!

Hands down container eating plans (as seen with 21 Day Fix) are the simplest to follow, easy on the budget, and family friendly eating plans out there right now. Especially for those just beginning their weight loss or healthy eating journey.

Those of us with seriously disordered eating may not even recognize what a proper portion looks like. I know how wrong I was, now that I am measuring out my meals. It’s super easy too. No calorie counting, macro fitting, or points system. Just measure out your containers, dump them on your plate, and eat!

Using these containers and learning how to eat healthy and having those proper portions has changed my life. I have had such an unhealthy relationship with food since I was little. The containers give me the knowledge and confidence to follow the eating plan without getting overwhelmed. I can trust that following the containers I am ensuring a nutritious meal or snack in the proper portions all day long.

I know I can’t afford to toss out everything in my pantry just to replace it with expensive products “just for me.” What I eat my family has to be able to eat. What my family eats I have to be able to eat, with some tweaks here and there. It’s that simple. I can’t blow my budget on expensive “food” products that are really just going to wind up sitting in the cabinet collecting dust.

Being able to eat healthy “normal” foods that my family loves means I get to spend a little less time meal planning and writing my grocery list. It saves me money and my sanity at the grocery store as well. Normal foods in the house means everyone has healthy options for meals and snacks.

The containers not only measure out portions but the eating plan makes sure you get enough food from every category. This means you’re getting good nutrition without going overboard (hello carbs) in one group or having to eliminate groups of foods altogether. This makes balanced meals easy to achieve and a snap to plan.

I plan our meals as a family first. Then as I’m making my grocery list I go through and see where I might need to make adjustments for myself. Super simple and perfect for a budget. The container counts also mean I can plan my week down to the colors leaving all the guess work out of eating, which means I stay on track without having to think about it.

These containers are truly amazing!

The drawback of directly ordering 21 Day Fix is it can be quite expensive off the bat.

What I did was order containers off of Amazon (Meal Prep Haven Container Kit) They are great quality and less expensive. This will give you a head start on the eating plan. The guide that comes with the kit shows you how many of each colored container you need everyday based on your caloric needs. It also tells you what foods go in each of the containers.

You can add your own workouts, order 21 Day Fix, or become a member of Beachbody on Demand. Since I am a member of Beachbody on Demand already I just waited for the 21 Day Fix workouts to go on sale. This will also give you all the guides and grocery lists for you to print off that are specific to the 21 Day Fix.

I now have the whole 21 Day Fix system and still saved some money.
